Real Patient Story — PTSD & Military Service

William served proudly.
MeRT helped him find his way back.

PTSD left William in a fog he couldn't shake. Brain Treatment Center Michigan helped him clear it — and get back to being himself, and back to serving other veterans.

"Brain Treatment Michigan has been helping him clear the fog and find his way back to being himself again — and back to serving other veterans."

— From William's story

He served. He came home. The fog didn't leave.

PTSD after military service is more common than most people know — and more isolating than most people admit. The hypervigilance, the sleep disruption, the difficulty reconnecting with the people and routines that used to feel normal. William lived with all of it after coming home.

What brought him to Brain Treatment Center Michigan was the science. PTSD isn't just a psychological response — it often involves measurable dysregulation in the brain's neural networks. MeRT® starts by mapping those patterns with a qEEG, then uses precisely targeted magnetic stimulation to encourage healthier brain function. No medication. No talking about the trauma. Just treatment built around how William's brain was actually working.

What changed for William wasn't just symptom relief. He describes finding his way back to himself — and then turning around to help other veterans find the same path.

"He served proudly and was left with PTSD like so many of his other military brothers and sisters. Brain Treatment Michigan has been helping him clear the fog."

— From William's story at Brain Treatment Center Michigan

Addressing the brain patterns behind PTSD — without medication

PTSD involves real, measurable changes in how the brain processes threat, memory, and emotion — particularly in the amygdala, prefrontal cortex, and hippocampus. MeRT starts with a quantitative EEG to map exactly where dysregulation is occurring, then delivers focused magnetic stimulation to those areas.

The protocol is built around your specific brainwave patterns — not a standardized approach — and is adjusted every two weeks as your brain responds. For many veterans, MeRT addresses what therapy and medication alone cannot reach.

1

qEEG brain mapping

A comfortable EEG cap records your brainwave patterns. No needles, no discomfort. This gives us a precise map of how your brain is currently communicating.

2

Physician review and personalized protocol

Dr. Wallace analyzes the EEG data and designs a treatment protocol specific to your brain — the right frequency, location, and timing for you.

3

Daily in-office treatment

Monday through Friday, five days a week. Sessions are approximately 30–45 minutes. The EEG repeats at weeks two, four, and six so the protocol adjusts as your brain responds.

4

Results review with Dr. Wallace

At the end of treatment, you review your before-and-after EEG data with Dr. Wallace and discuss what the results mean going forward.
